Agadir β Morocco's Surf City
Agadir is Morocco's most modern and cosmopolitan Atlantic city, rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake into a wide, sun-drenched promenade lined with palms and beach cafes. With over 300 sunny days a year and a long crescent beach stretching 9 kilometres, Agadir is the gateway to Morocco's surf coast.
The city offers everything you need: international airport connections, excellent restaurants, lively night markets, a vibrant souk (traditional bazaar), and first-class hammam spas. Agadir Bay itself has gentle, beginner-friendly waves that are perfect for those just finding their feet on the board.
For surf travellers, Agadir acts as the perfect base β modern enough to feel comfortable, yet close enough to Taghazout and Tamraght that world-class waves are just a 20-minute drive away. The Agadir surf scene has grown enormously in recent years, with surf schools, board hire, and surf-friendly cafes popping up along the beachfront.

Agadir, Tamraght & Taghazout
Three unique destinations on Morocco's Atlantic coast β each one special, all of them spectacular.

Tamraght β The Authentic Surf Village
Tamraght is where our surf camp is based β and for good reason. This traditional Berber fishing village perched on dramatic cliffs above the Atlantic is the quieter, more authentic counterpart to its famous neighbour Taghazout, located just 3km to the north.
Tamraght has two distinct parts: Tamraght Oufella (upper village) and Tamraght Asfla (lower village), separated by a valley. The lower village sits right beside a beautiful cove beach that hosts Devil's Rock β one of the area's most reliable and fun surf breaks.
Life here moves at a gentle pace. Cats nap on whitewashed walls, fishermen mend their nets at dawn, and the smell of mint tea drifts from doorways. In recent years, Tamraght has welcomed a growing wave of surf travellers, and a handful of excellent cafes, yoga studios, and surf camps have opened β yet the village still retains its genuine Moroccan charm and warmth.

Taghazout β Morocco's Surf Capital
Taghazout is Morocco's most famous surf village and one of Africa's premier surf destinations. What was once a tiny fishing hamlet has become a globally recognised surf hub, attracting wave riders from across Europe, the Americas, and beyond every winter season.
The village is compact and colourful, tumbling down a headland between Hash Point β a popular right-hander that breaks right in front of the village β and the legendary Anchor Point just to the north. The streets are lined with surf shops, rooftop cafes with ocean views, juice bars, yoga studios, and handicraft stalls.
The surf culture in Taghazout is welcoming, diverse, and deeply passionate. Local Moroccan surfers share the line-up with visiting riders from around the world, and the whole place hums with the relaxed energy of people united by a love of waves. Hash Point, Panoramas, Mysteries, and Anchor Point are all within walking distance, making Taghazout one of the most wave-rich locations on the planet.

Food & Culture
Moroccan Cuisine
One of the world's great food cultures β bold spices, slow cooking, generous hospitality. Eating in Morocco is an experience in itself. Here's what to look forward to.
"Moroccan food is not just sustenance β it's a love language. Every meal is an act of generosity, every spice a story, every shared pot a celebration."
Tagine
Morocco's iconic slow-cooked stew. Tender lamb, chicken, or vegetables simmered with preserved lemons, olives, and aromatic spices like cumin, ginger, and saffron. Cooked in an earthenware cone-shaped pot, a tagine is the ultimate one-pot comfort food after a long day in the water.
π²
Couscous
The national dish of Morocco β tiny steamed semolina grains piled high with slow-cooked vegetables, chickpeas, and your choice of meat. Traditionally served on Fridays, a proper Moroccan couscous is a communal feast shared from one large platter, eaten by hand or with a spoon.
π₯£
Harira
A thick, warming tomato and lentil soup enriched with chickpeas, vermicelli, fresh herbs, and a squeeze of lemon. Harira is Morocco's beloved comfort soup β hearty enough to be a meal on its own and perfect for refuelling after a morning surf session.
π₯
Msemen & Beghrir
Msemen are flaky, layered flatbreads griddled to golden perfection and served warm with honey and argan oil. Beghrir are Moroccan 'thousand hole' pancakes β light, spongy, and perfect for soaking up butter and honey. Both are surf camp breakfast staples.
π₯
Briouats & Pastilla
Briouats are delicate filo pastry parcels filled with spiced meat or cheese, fried until golden and crispy. Pastilla is the grand showpiece β a flaky pie of pigeon or chicken with almonds, cinnamon, and icing sugar. Savoury-sweet and absolutely unforgettable.
π
Fresh Seafood
Sitting on the Atlantic coast, the Agadir and Taghazout area is a seafood lover's paradise. Grilled sardines caught that morning, spiced shrimp brochettes, and whole sea bass baked with chermoula herb sauce are regular features. Tamraght's fishing boats deliver fresh catch daily.
π΅
Mint Tea
Moroccan mint tea β or 'Berber whisky' as locals jokingly call it β is far more than a drink. It's a ritual of hospitality. Strong green tea steeped with fresh spearmint and plenty of sugar, poured from a great height to create a froth. You'll be offered it everywhere, and you should accept every time.
π«
Argan Oil & Amlou
Morocco is home to the Argan tree, found nowhere else on earth. Cold-pressed argan oil is used both in cooking (a nutty finishing oil for salads and dips) and beauty. Amlou is a rich paste of roasted almonds, argan oil, and honey β the Moroccan version of peanut butter, and absolutely addictive on warm bread.
Meals at Surf Coaching Morocco
Every morning at camp begins with a generous Moroccan-style breakfast: freshly baked msemen flatbreads, amlou dipping paste, local honey, seasonal fruit, mint tea, coffee, and eggs. Depending on your package, evening meals are prepared using fresh local produce from Agadir's souk β flavourful, wholesome, and designed to fuel surfers.
Our Luxury Villa package includes the option to book a private chef who will prepare authentic Moroccan feasts in your villa kitchen β a truly unforgettable dining experience with the ocean as your backdrop.
